Combination play in possession
8 stations // 9 players (minimum) to begin with
Player passes to base 2
Base 2 returns the ball (Give and Go emphasis)
Base 1 - Base 3
Base 3 - Base 2
Base 2 - Base 4
Players to move to the next station once they have passed to the base infront.
Focus on continuous movement with the players
Add a 2nd and 3rd ball if possible (2 players behind each base which begins with a ball)

Combination play - attacking
- Number of players: 8 attackers / 2 GKs
- Both groups attacking at the same time
- Exercise focusing on combination play, allowing players to become imaginitve to include in 11v11 matches
- Each group spends 5 minutes on each side of the pitch, before swapping over
- Players to move to a different cone once the attack has been completed
- Try and speed up the play/ limit touches as players become aware of the exercise
Progressions
- Compete with attacker to try and score, treat them as though they are an opposing defender
- Include a competition, which team can score the most goals in the allocated time?
Orange side
- GK plays ball to CM -- CM to LB -- LB to LM
- LM to CM -- CM to overlapping LB
- LM and ST to meet the ball in the box
- Progress by adding defender
White side
- GK to LB -- LB to LM -- LM to CM
- LM to run central, play 1,2 with CM
- CM play to overlapping LB
- LB to cross the ball and LM/ ST aim to finish

2 teams of 5/6 players
Aim of the exercise is for the GK to start an attack by feeding the ball to attackers
- Ball to be kept in the midfield third, looking for through balls to the attackers (opening up defenders with imaginitive passes/ skill)
- Overload and counter attack IF and WHERE possible
- Encourage as many shots as possible
-If a GK concedes, they start with the ball, until then, the opposing GK will restart play
Range of scenarios to be included such as:
- Your team must shoot within 10 seconds of recieving the ball
- Keep possession for 10 seconds before shooting
- An attacker must have his back to goal and lay off a team mate (hints of combination play, go backwards then forwards)
- Specific number of passes before shooting
- For double points

Warm up (10 mins)
4 point passing combination
- 2 players at the top and bottom of the diamond
- 1,2 (give and go) and pass into space
- Players follow the pass to the next base to keep the diamond flowing
Coaching Points
- First touch to be taken into space in the direction of where the ball is going
- Players in the middle of the diamond to recieve on the half turn, return the pass and go
Progressions
- Progress by adding hurdles
- Limit to 2 touches/ 1 touch
- Add a second ball into play at one time
- When coach blows whistle, the ball is to be played in the opposite direction
- Incorporate competition with opposite diamond (if there is a parallel group)
