Setup: 16 squares covering 40x40 up to half a pitch. (make squares larger or smaller or more than 16 as see fit). 2 to 4 teams. One ball per team. Attempt 2 touch as much as possible. Progress to 1 touch if team can do it.
Game: Teams keep possession amongst themselves with their ball. There are rules placed on each progression. Teams always try to work from one end to the other.
Progression 1: Teams just keep possession, must pass out of square that they are in. Must move out of square they are in once they pass.
Progression 2: Every pass must be on diagonal; no straight passes. Can cross several squares but always angled. Still must leave square they are in once they pass.
Progression 3: Up, Back, Through pattern. (works better with 20 squares.) Everytime it hits one end, we must go up, back, and a deeper through (ie 15 to 5). The player that plays it up cannot be the one to receive it back unless they move squares. Always leave the square you are in.
Progression 4: Try to have players always occupying wide red channels. Every pass must leave the color square it is in or be played backwards. White could play to white as long as it is backwards.
Progression 5: Play direction-ally with two teams (real game w/goals). Same rule of no straight passes or just simply one person per square. (Add in they must get shot off or assist from yellow grid and/or must play every color before score.
Coaching: Scan, plan, and play. Scan where to move after pass. Think 2 moves ahead. Ball is going there; where can I go to support. Third man concepts.

4 squares
Setup: 4 squares appr 10x10. Adjust as needed. Teams divided into 4. Each team has their own ball and play independently around the other teams.
Game:
Progression 1: Team must occupy all squares, and only one member of the team can be in each square. Every time a player passes a ball, they must move to a different square. Since only one member can be in a square, all players must move simultaneously to fill all squares. (Blue team is in example above). unlimited touches to start and work down to 2 touch.
Progression 2: Your first touch takes you to a new square, but still only one per square.
Progression 3: You may pass to any color on any team, but each of your 4 members of your team still can only have one member per square. First touch must take you to a new square.
Progression 4: Same as 3, but first touch takes you to a new square and pass takes you to a new square. This is difficult to achieve. and keep 1 in each square.
Coaching: Scan, plan and play. Think of the movement ahead. Communicate. Dont get closed in and hover around the middle. Make a run away and then show back to the ball. Get in a position to take your first touch to next square, but do it late (Don't stand there waiting).
