Problems/Solutions from the game-

Def - Two CB's caught high and ball watching.

Def - Two wide midfielders caught high and not dropping in to help.

Def - Changes the formation in the second half to 4-box-2 to deny opponents the switch and ball rotation.

Att- Can we control the tempo & carry the game with possession?

Att - We may have to change from three forwards.

Att - Defenders just kicked the ball.

Key factors: eg. (movement & cues of opponents, angles of closing down).

Recovery In Transition

Phase: eg. (Playing out of defense/role of the #6, attack zone-14, etc)

Practice game 2x35mins.

Organizations: eg. (Field dimensions- Number of Players- Cones- Bibs- ).

Focus areas: eg. (Emphasis was on us pressing with high intensity from our shape, closing the lines between defense, midfield & attack & moving in relation to the ball)..

Key factors: eg. (movement & cues of opponents, angles of closing down).

Learning Outcomes: eg. (Post practice review, comments, thoughts)

In Attack-

- Limit touches on the ball

- Ball retention back through thru the DCM to set up the opportunity to sustain possession ans have another chance to create an attack.

- Have the CF stay within the width of the six yard box and occupy CB's. Riley and Kofi to stretcht the field to play and isolate FB's 1v1.

- Speed of play in the back field allows more time & space for midfielders.

- Defenders step up the field and remain compact as we progress up the field.

On Defense-

- Front three did a nice job getting to the ball and creating turnovers.

- ACM joined the front 3 and broke up play.

- 2-DCM's stepped too high, too often and left no protection for the CB's or back line.

- Backline was a major concern.  When opponents did not have POB our backline did not drop.  The backline was split while being flat and square.

Next practice labelled August 27th Practice 10 addresses some of these major concerns.
