Structure

  • The players around the ball will link arms, one will have a bib tucked into their shorts. The aim is for the player on the outside to run around the circle and try to take the bib. While the players in the circle work together to stop them.
  • Groups of 5 (4 inside, 1 out)
  • 30 second blocks, or until the player outside gets the bib.

Adaptability
  • Group numbers could be made smaller or larger.
  • Only one player could be allowed to say which way to turn.
  • If the ball is knocked off the team in the circle loose.

Fun
  • If the outside player gets the bib they can give a forfeit to the rest
  • If the outside player doesn't get the bib then they rest can give them a forfeit
  • If the ball is knocked off the cone then the outside player wins
 Engaging
  • Allow only one player to talk

Coaching points;

Structure

  • 25x25 square
  • Equal numbers per each of the 4 groups
  • The aim is for one player from each corner to go at a time, this creates a 2v2 situation, they need to work together to try and score.
  • 4x2 minute blocks
Adaptability

  • Add a goalkeeper for each team
  • Number the players and only the number the coach calls can go
  • Make it 3v3
Fun

  • Every time a goal is scored then that team gets a point
  • The team with the least points at the end of each block gets a forfeit, chosen by the other team
Engaging
  • Limit touches
  • Allow one team to start with the ball

Coaching points;
Why is it important to have points systems?
Based on what we spoke about in the first game, what is needed in this drill?
