Session working on possession.
AIMS:
- Keep the ball well, seldom giving it away.
- Effective passing to move opponents.
- Develop patience in possession.

Set up: Using a centre circel or a circle marked out with a hexagon marked out on the outside with SAQ equipment on each of the 6 sides. 2 footballs and players placed inside the circle.
Procedure: Players in the middle of the circle pass the ball to oneanother (more footballs the higher the intenisty). On passing the ball the player must go outside and perfom an agility exercise at one of the SAQ sides.
Progression: Players to be creative in the middle when receiving and passing the ball such as turns, nutmegs, flicks etc.
Coaching points:
- Make passes playable.
- Perform SAQ exericse quickly to get back inside to become a passing option.

Set up: 10x10 box with 2 footballs(one on top of the central cone) and 5 players.
Procedure: Outside players pass the ball and try to keep the ball away from the defender in the middle as well as aiming to knock the the ball off the central marker. The defender has to try and protect the ball on the marker as well as trying to intercept passes from the outside players.
Progression: Add points, a point for the outside players if they can knock the ball off the central cone and a point for the defender if they manage to intercept/touch the ball.
Coaching points:
Attackers:
- Make passes playable.
- Movement to recieve.
- Communication.
- Passes to move opponent to attack the ball on the cone.
Defender:
- Block passing lines to the ball on the central marker.
- Angle body to force passing movement.
- Force attackers into mistakes.
- Steal the ball quickly if close enough to do so.

Set up: 20x30 area, 5x pole goals, 2 teams and good supply of footballs.
Procedure: One team looks to keep possession and the other attacks the pole goals. Game last 3 minutes and then the teams swap roles.
Progression: Both teams attack the pole goals.
Coaching points:
- Work hard to keep the ball.
- Put the ball in 'safe areas' to stop opposition scoring goals.
- Draw opponents into areas and attack the space created.

Set up: Small-sided pitch with 2 goals, 2 teams and good supply of footballs.]
Procedure: Teams play a normal game but if they go a goal up then they must play possession only until the opponents score a goal to level.
Progression: Free play.
Coaching points:
- Work hard to keep possession.
- Open up when in possession creating more space.
- Move the opposition and attack the space.
