Theme: Support
Principles: (1) support (2) dispersal (3) mobility
Key Points
(1) Open body shape - when your teammate has the ball are you able to see the ball and three corners of the space
(2) Angle of support - no defender between receiving players feet and the ball
(3) Ball carriers body shape - support based on which the ball carrier is facing, there needs to be options to play in the direction the ball carrier is facing / moving
Key Words/Phrase
(1) under - find space between ball carrier and own goal to receive a pass and play the next action side-to-side or forwards
(2) alongside - find space to the left or right of ball carrier to receive a pass
(3) behind - movement behind the opposition back line, into space, to receive a pass, usually when the ball carrier has space and time to look up
(4) sit - find an angle in the space the player is currently in to receive a pass
(5) 360 support - the ball carrier has options behind, alongside, and in front
Guided Questions
(1) Where can we support - think about what the player on the ball needs; is the ball carrier under pressure, which way is the ball carrier facing?
(2) How can we play forward - support in a position where you can receive the ball and face forward
(3) How can we get someone on the ball facing forward - pass the ball to allow teammate to face forward, avoid pressure
(4) Where does our teammate want the pass - pass based on where the opposition is or what the receiving players next action is
(5) Why can we take more then one touch - taking touches on the ball based on how the opposition is pressuring
Learning Outcomes
(1) When to show feet and when to go behind - if pressured the ball carrier needs more options closer to the ball because they cannot look up and it is difficult to play a longer pass
(2) Forward pass forward movement - when the ball moves forward players must move forward in relation to how fast and far the ball travelled
(3) No pressure run behind - when the ball carrier has time to look up and push the ball out of their feet can their teammates run behind the opposition
(4) Timing of movement - if players arrive to early into space it will be closed down by opposition before the ball arrives, if players arrive to late into space it will have been closed down
(5) Weight of pass into space - pace of pass to allow teammates to run onto the ball
(6) Evasive first touch - when receiving under pressure does the first touch move into space to set-up the next action
(7) Pass to set up teammates next action - passing based on what the receiving player needs

Organization: 3v1 rondo. Keep away from the one defender. Team in possession keep track of number of consecutive passes in one minute. Change the defender after one minute. If the defender wins the ball and dribbles out of the square they can change earlier.
Objective: Players create triangles as a the opposition, ball, and teammates move.

Organization: Players work in groups of three. Two targets on the outside of the playing area and one player in the middle. The middle player plays a pass to an outside target of their color and goes to receive a pass back. Once they receive the ball back dribble and pass to the opposite target / teammate in that color. Continue for 45-60 seconds.
Objective: Players to receive the ball with an open body shape / able to face the field or where they want to go next and see the ball
Progression:
(1) The outside players move to a new sideline

Organization: Blue builds up to pass to neutral, black. If Blue can pass to black in the endzone they get a point. White wins the ball and scores in the goal. If black receive the ball in the endzone they then switch the ball to one another and start an attack for white. One black can leave the endzone at a time.
Objective: Movement to create space to receive and pass forward
