Ball Skills (25 mins)

2011-10:

-Laces (Right, Left, 3 with each)

-Inside Outside (Right and Left)

Manipulations:

-Boxes

-Toe Taps forward 3 steps, Backwards 3 steps (Start with only doing one foot then progress to alternating)

Turns:

-Drag Back

-Inside Hook

-Outside Hook

2009-07

-Laces (3 R 3 L)

-Inside Outside (Alternating)

-3 small touches, head up, 3 big touches in to space

Manipulations:

-Boxes (Forwards and Backwards)

-Toe Taps (Forwards and Backwards alternating feet)

-Triangles (drag back, tap to side, tap forward, start again--Switch foot you start with)

Turns:

-Cruyff

-Outside Hook/ Inside Hook

-L Turn

-Stepover (taking the ball away with opposite foot)

2006-04

-Laces (3R 3L)

-Inside/Outside

-Inside Outside Chop

Manipulations:

-Sole Drag, Inside Push (Drag with one foot, push forward with opposite)

-Triple Sole Drag across the body

-Triple Push Pulls (Outside Laces Inside switch)

-The V-inside/ V-outside

Turns:

-Cruyff

-L-turn

-Inside Hook/ Outside Hook

-Double Inside Hook/ Outside Hook (to go out to a side, continue your attack)

-Step-over

-McGeady Spin/Ribery Twist (Cruyff Turn combined with a touch with the outside of the opposite foot)

CPs;

-Head up

-Weight of touch during ball manipulation

-Check your shoulder before the turn

--Arm out to protect yourself

2009-06 (15 mins)

Attacking with our back to goal

Player 2 checks to line, receives pass from player 1. Player 3 comes out to defend the two gates.

Looking to see if we can turn early and attack with speed. If not, control the ball, absorb pressure and make a decision.

Check shoulder, protect ball, Don't turn in to pressure (trying to jam throuh the player)

Progressions- A)At first, defender cannot move until player 2 takes their first touch.

B) Defender can move as pass is being played

C)Defender can move whenever, player 2 can pass back to player 1 for a 2v1 (Do not do with 09-07 group)

2011-10 (15 mins)

Defender plays pass in to attacker

Attacker must make the decision; go 1v1 or Turn away from pressure, play to their open teammate and create the 2v1.

Switch roles after 2 minutes

CPs:

-When to dribble at the defender, when to protect the ball

-Check shoulder before the turn

-Body between defender and the ball

-Movement off the ball to create confusion for defender

Transition (15 mins)

1v1 Transition

IF CLOSED DOWN; turn away from pressure, protect the ball and play back to next person in line.

For 2004-2006's

-Pass back to teammate creates a 2v2

For 2007-2011's

-Pass back creates a 2v1.

Transition occurs when a shot happens.

Player who took the shot stays on as defender, Second player joins end of line

(For the scenario of 2v2s- Both players come off and new player comes on with the ball)
