Defending low block against 4-2-4 create10 mins

Organization:

  • Full pitch 
  • 11v11 (2GK's) 
  • Blues def 1-5-4-1 (Mourinho esque) 
  • Whites attacking 1-4-2-4 morphing into 1-2-4-4
  • Blues objective is to stop goals - 1 point for winning ball and 2 points for securing positive pass 3 points for getting over half way line. Whites look to create and finish sustained attacks against a very low block which is narrow and compact. 

Considerations: 

  • Opponent winger stays wide force our ball side winger in to double press with FB to trap and win ball. FB angle of approach shows down the line using touchline as defender. Winger doubles and blocks central passing lane as that's most dangerous (force back) 
  • Trigger - as soon as ball forced back, blues squeeze up and in 5 yards to keep the block but assert control when defending.

Considerations: 

  • Oppo RB rolls in with RW out wide, CB locks onto the 8 run with our LB inside forcing play out the oppo winger where he will engage. 6 locks onto 9 and weak side FB slides in to still keep 3 CB's across the goal. 
  • Win ball back and ready to exploit space with ball side oppo CB and LCM running forwards.
