Shooting Technique 20min
Organisation:
Players in pairs about 10m away from each other. 1 ball between 2 players.
Instructions:
Players practice 4 types of shots playing to ball to each other.
- Push kick (inside of the foot)
- Instep Kick (laces)
- Volley
- Half Volley
Before starting practice coach describes and demonstrates those 4 techniques.
- Push kick is performed with the biggest surface of your foot- the inside. It's the most accurate shot, usually used to put the ball in the corner of the goal. Contact the centerline of the ball with the inside of your kicking foot held perpendicular to your plant foot, using your foot almost like a golf putter to accurately push the ball.
- Instep kick:
Keep your head down looking at the ball.
Plant foot needs to be about half a yard beside the ball and your plant foot should be pointing in the direction of your desired target.
Toes of the shooting foot pointing downward and heel up. LOCK your ankle of the shooting foot (very important)
Strike the ball in the center to bottom half of the ball.
Follow through with your shooting foot and it should be the first foot to hit the ground after your swing.
-Volley:
Similar to instep kick but the ball is hit straight of the air. To keep the ball low we bend over the ball
- Half Volley:
Similar but we need to hit the ball as soon as it touches the ground.

Shooting practice (20 min)
Organisation:
2 groups of players, balls, 1 goalkeeper.
Insrtuctions:
Each group has 1 player (passer) on the end line with a supply of balls. That player passes the ball to players astanding in line. They then have to receive the ball around the cone and shoot at goal using instep shot technique. Players are allowed 2 touches only so they have to make sure their first touch is perfect.
We swap the passer after a few shots and swap sides after about 10 minutes, so the players practice shooting with both feet.
Coaching points:
Correct the technique. The ankle has to be locked, foot not moving at all. If the first touch is poor, let them take an extra touch, but point out the importance of receiving the ball properly.
We can make it into a challenge. Ask players to count their goals.

Shooting game (15min)
Organisation:
2 teams of players, 1 ball, 2 goals with their backs to each other
Instructions:
The aim for ech team is to score as many goals as possible, players can shoot at either goal. If a player steals the ball from the other team, they have to get out the white box and then they can attack.
As a progression we can specify which goal each team has to score into.
Coaching points:
Encourage shootng decisions. Players should try and shoot after 1 touch of the ball

Warm Up:
King of The Ring 10min.
Organisation:
10mx10m grid
A ball for every player
Instructons:
Players dribble the ball in the grid. The aim of the game is to hit another players ball with my ball. If the ball goes out of bounds, player is out. He then does 1 lap sprint around the outside of the grid. The last player left is the winner. Players have to dribble the ball, they are not allowed to stop and put their foot on the ball.
Coaching Points:
Keep the players active, don't let them stop and hide with the ball. For younger players the coach can be the target istead of someone else's ball.
