Passing to Rondo to Game Training to develop switching options

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Set Up: 20 x 15 grid with mini goals on each corner. 3 teams of four with 3 different coloured bibs
Organisation: 6 players (4+2) around the exterior of the grid who cannot go into the grid and who cannot be tackled. Inside the grid is a 4v2 where the 2 players play with the external 6 and the 4 defenders try and prevent this combination or win the ball via poor passes or poor touches. They cannot tackle the external players of go out the grid. Players on the outside start and can play the ball to each other outside and across the grid or can play in to their team mates inside the grid who look to combine.
To start, the outsides team score a point if they can combine with a central player and keep possession or switch the ball.
If the 4 defenders in the grid win the ball they can immediately shoot to score in one of the small goals.
Work for 5 minutes then change the inside to outside, etc.
Coaching Points:
Patience in possession for outside players. Passing options (along the line, across the grid, into central players). Support along the line. Take directional touches. Body shape, movement and ball speed of the 2 central players looking to combine to switch the play in a tight area. Bounce pass to move players. Minimal touches.
Don't be on the same vertical or horizontal lines. 3rd player movements.
Defenders be compact (no passes in between us). When to step in. How to work as a group of defenders (1,2,3 def roles)
Progressions:
Introduce the rule that the outside team can score in the small goals only after there has been a combination with the internal player or players. If both internal players can combine in a goal the goal counts as 5 points.

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Set Up: SSG 6v6 or 7 v7. Reduced field 35-40m between goal and centre circle
If you score from a phase of play that involved a switch, it is 5 points. Open play goals are only 1 point. (line of markers down middle to denote "cross-over" point may be needed)
Both teams attack and defend in a block.
Coaching Points:
The defending team must play as a block to make game realistic, so spend time on them getting that shape right.
The positioning of the attackers also important. Non-ball side winger stay wide and high. CAM and CMs look for pockets to play central. CBs stay central and deep as pivot.
Be patient and control possession to "construct" the opportunity. Don't force it. Just like the rondo.
Players need to be in the right position to make it happen
Encourage different ways to switch the point of attack (through a CB. through a CM or a big diagonal over the top to the open winger)
As the opponent opens up to defend the longer pass be aware of the central (higher) option.

Short and Long Passing (20 mins)
Short, Long and Lofted Passing Drill
Organisation 25m x 20 m grid shown in red cones
4 cones on each corner with additional 2 cones (red) 3m in from both corners on both sides at 1 end, in front of the corner cones
2 x yellow cones 10 meters away (short passing option)
Starts with Player A passing to Player B who bounces it back. Player A then plays the ball to Player C diagonally across the grid (black lines). Player B then turns to support the pass to Player C (red line). Player C plays a bounce pass to Player B who is now close in support (yellow lines). Player B plays back to Player C who Plays the ball to player at D. The same play occurs at the same time from the opposite corner. In other words, 2 balls are in play.
It starts as a short pass option (yellow cones) on the ground but is then is extended to a longer pass option (red cones).
The Progression is that the ball along the ground is then swapped for a lofted pass.
