Defending when out of Balance -15 mins
Organisation
Blue back four line up as if team have a goal kick. Remaining players line up 36 yards from goal with a cone 4 yards behind them. Goalkeeper plays pass into central defender, passed onto full back, who passes into opposing wide player then runs past cone and back into the play. White team try to attack quickly and score, if blues win the ball back they try to score in the mini goal.

Central defender steps out with the ball and loses centrally

- Remaining defenders to narrow quickly

- Delay attackers to give recovering defender time to retreat

Defensive Heading and 1v1 (15 mins)
Individual Practise - Defensive Heading & 1v1 - 15 mins
Organisation
In 20 x 10yd box, group of five players.
Player in white is working.
1) Player 1 throws underarm for defensive header
2) Player 2 throws underarm, behind white player, who must back track and complete header
3) When header has taken place, player 3 attacks white player in 1v1 situation and try to score in mini goal. If white player wins the ball he must find spare player on end line
Rotation
- Players move one station after two reps
Coaching Points
1st header - body position (3/4 turn) / move feet / step back to then move forward to attack the ball at your highest point / distance and height on headers
2nd header - move feet quickly / head ball up and adjust position
1v1 defending - show attacker away from goal (body position) / pressure on the ball / chest between goal and ball / patience (make attacker beat you)
