Football/Soccer Session (Difficult): BL Split -- emergency defending

1v1 defending and transition (5 mins)

Organization:

15X15 -- 4 gates 

-players in possession are looking to 

round 1) dribble across the grid

round 2) pass across grid for one point or dribble thru gate for 2 pts 

  -lose possession or miss player in gate area and new ball comes in from coach 

-defender keep possession and can play in one of the small goals, slows down the next ball as a reward

Objective:

-rely on foundational defending in non structured and fatigued scenarios

-Defending team getting close enough to deny pass

-quick to get to ball and right distance -- no stabbing

-which way do you show attacker, positioning to deny pass

-patience but prioritize poking/stealing the ball

-scanning to find where coach is playing next ball

emergency defend the box (5 mins)

Organization:

- Black team attacks the goal

- neutral players high and wide, coach is central and runs activity 

-Red team defends goal and tries to play out small goal

-Black team will have varietal starting positions and objectives 

 -must make a pass before scoring, must play wide before scoring

-Red team will have varietal starting positions that will represent emergency defending scenarios and rebuilding of our backline

Objective: 

-Backline understanding pressure, cover, balance responsibilities

-communication within emergency defend scenarios

-Shot blocking scenarios and not being overly committed

-clearing, goal side defending, back post defending -- playing the odds
