Footwork (10 mins)

Organization: 5 cones, 1yrd apart, 3yrd Triangle

Instructions:

-Gk's perform Footwork vaiations through cones

-Sprint to Triange... Set Position at S1

-Sprint to opposite cone and Set again at S2

-Back peddle to start

Warm Up

Organization:

Playing area 18yard Box

Playing Area is extended with increased number of goalkeepers

Each Goalkeeper has a soccer ball

Instructions:

Goalkeepers hop/skip/shuffle around playing area

Bounce the ball on the ground and catch ball using the 'W' hand shape

Toss the ball in the air and catch with Basket catch and 'W' hand shape

Coaching Points:

Bring the ball into chest after after making catch

always try to catch ball with thumbs/hands in a 'W' form

Progressions:

1 - goalkeepers put the ball on the ground and stretch making figure 8s through the legs

2 - goalkeepers practice reflex catches with ball between the legs

Main Theme

Organization: Players pair up, extra balls with the tosser

Pt 1 set two cones 10 yards apart, with keeper in the middle of the cones

Pt 2 set three cones in a pyramid shape 10 yards apart

Instructions:

Pt 1 No ball :Begins with keeper in ready position shuffling from one cone to the next practicing making ground scoops, "W" catches and basket catches.

With Ball keeper shuffles back and forth as balls are played to him on the ground, chest and waist height. Once the ball is caught by keeper they roll in back to the thrower.

Pt 2 No Ball: Keeper begins at one of the front cones and backpedals to around back cone to the opposite front cones and practices ground scoops, "W" and basket catches

WIth Ball: Keeper does the same as above now the balls are played into him by the tosser first on the ground and next chest height and next waist height.

Shots on Goal

Organization: 2 lines on the posts of the goal, 3 cones 3 yards apart for each line (6 cones total)

Instructions: GK from 1 line runs forward through cone, and backpedals through the cones once they are at the last cone they set and a ball is volleyed at them at a variety of different heights to make sure they able to react and choose the appropriate catching technique. The next line goes immediately after the previous line has made a save.

Coaching Points:

Choosing the proper technique to secure ball (W, basket, moving ground pickup)

Move towards the ball at all times

Get into set position as quick as possible

Progressions:

Have 1 line that will make their way through both sides and catch 2 balls

Make into a contest amongts the teams

Handball (25 mins)

Organization: Half field or Full field ( dependng on numbers)

2 teams

6v6 and so on

1 Ball

Instructions:

Players are scrimmaging however they are using thier hands.

You have two goal keepers in goal, and field players pass to each other by throwing the ball to each other. The only way to score is off a header.

If someone drops a ball, the other team picks it up where the ball was dropped and resumes game

Rotate players from field to goalkeeper every 5 minutes.

Coaching Points:

1. Proper handling techniques, "W" , Basket, scooping .

2. Proper throws

3. movement

4.communication

5. Are players playing the ball back to thier keeper if they cannot go forward

Progressions:

1. When a field player receives a ball, they can only move 3 steps and then must release the ball.

2. When a player receives a ball, they have 3 seconds to hold the ball and then must release

3. When a field player recieves the ball, they cannot move at all and must release quickly

4. Headers count for 1 point, volleys count for 3 points

Regressions:

1. Unlimited steps with the ball
