Key Factors

  • Blues start with the ball. They play a pass with the reds on the outside, then go to another red player to receive a new ball.
  • The transition from this will be instead of going to find a new ball - they play a 1/2 pass with the reds, then use the same ball & find a new red to play a 1/2 with. They do this until the coach says for the 2 teams to swap.

Organisation

  • Try keep the numbers equal. If there’s odd numbers maybe add a neutral player as a defender maybe. Or have them to dribble the ball around and find the spare players to pass to - this helps their vision / creativity.
  • Example shown above is 1 team of 4 on the outside, and the other on the inside - inside team start with the balls.

Key Factors

  • The passing pattern is there to recreate the idea of winning the ball back in a tight space and switching it into space as quick as possible.
  • Main outcomes are working on making the passes sharp with a good amount of pace.
  • That includes the technique of passing - having a firm ankle for example.

Organisation

  • Nice basic set up. However as you can see it’s more of a right angled - this is so that the player switching the ball has to think about their first touch and also their movement off the ball.
  • Waiting players stand on the cones to avoid the players in play staying too close to them when receiving the ball.

Screen 3

Key Factors

  • Adding 2 defenders in to make it more game realistic.
  • For example - blues start in their square with the ball, with 1 red & 1 black defending - if the red player wins the ball back, the reds then start keeping the ball in their square with 1 black and 1 blue trying to win it back. Which ever colour wins the ball. Their team starts keeping possession in their own square.

Organisation

  • 3 squares set up all apart from each other - this is to recreate the scenario for the defensive side of things - being sharp to win it back after losing possession.
  • Square sizes depend on numbers & ability.

Key Factors

  • Again, transitioning between the reds & blues. Team on the outside (reds) are the team in possession. The black team are always on the same team that’s in possession.
  • The blacks have 2 players in the middle to help support the red team in keeping possession.
  • Points are awarded for a certain amount of passes.
  • If the blue team win the ball back, they take the places of the reds on the outside, and then the reds become the defenders in the middle of the square.

Organisation

  • Square size depends on numbers.
  • Swap the teams around every couple of minutes to keep everyone interested and so that everyone has a fair amount of time on each section.
  • Include time blocks on possession if one team dominates.
