Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions): 20mins

The coach will use this playing section to properly structure the team to be coached (i.e., blue) on how they should approach high press runs to tract down the attacking team. Demonstrations of walk through into run on could be embarked with instructions. Players should keep an eagle eye on ball movements and time the high press as especially with the players on top. Using a coaching style or mixed coaching styles that fits the moments (autocratic, democratic, Q&A etc.) the coach will instruct the team he chooses to coach (e.g., blue team). The defending team can start with one player pressing and move to 2 and players pressing progressively to give proper understanding of what is required individually and collectively.

Challenges, Conditions or Targets:

Space between the pressing and the attacking team can be a challenge and flat runs without a cover could also frustrate the defending team. Therefore, the pressing team must always keep the space closed, bait the opponent slowly and explosively by keeping an eye on the body movement of the player with the ball and the direction the player intends to dribble and pass. Defending team must keep in mind that the target is to quickly press down and possibly win the ball or deny the progression of the ball to the next player. Players on the border line could be involved in set pass and move into the game every 3mins.

Both teams when possessing the ball stays on conditional touches and try to make quick passes both ways and forward to encourage the opposing to fulfil those high press runs to win the ball, attack and score. The ball rolling time should the teams in maximum ball experience to achieve the objectives of the practice.

2.The opposing team should recognize the trigger for high pressing and press together as soon as the first ball goes through to the attacking team from the goalkeeper.
3.The defending team should keep communicating when and how to go for the ball, cover, or tackle to win the ball.
