Large sided game
7 v 7
Area Size - half pitch
Timings 2 x 14 min blocks with 1 min rest brakes for players
according to Siewert (2024) ''To play attacking football it is really important to train your team to attack, especially when opponents are sitting deep in their own half and space is tight. That means players need to find the right timing for passes, through balls and chipped balls, as well as deep runs and runs in behind'' players movement and creativity create chances in attack and offer more chances of scoring.
Position specific information:
-Wingers stay high and wide, look to play as a second striker when the ball is on the opposite side and attack the back post when crosses come into the box
-Striker to occupy the ball sided centre back looking to receive the ball link up with wingers and number 10. make runs in behind when the opportunity is right
-number 10 to play in pockets of space and look to link with the striker by playing passes through or making 3rd man runs
-Midfielders to offer option to play and keep possession. also look to support wingers and number 10 by making runs in behind or passes through to the forwards
Blue team will look to play high and aggressive
interventions/what ifs
What if the winger plays more narrow? one of the midfielders can drift wide retaining the width on both sides and creating an overload and 2 v 1 or 3 v 2 opportunity in the final third
challenges/conditions/targets
challenge the number 10 to receive on the back foot and play forward or look to drive at the defence looking for a centre back or full back to step out leaving the space behind them
if the blue team win the ball back they will have a limit of time to try and score before the ball is dead and play resets
