- Get players mentally and physically ready for training
- Get players dribbling while looking up / vision
- Improving dribbling technique (cuts, turns, etc)
Organisation:
- 9 squares set up, players split into 2 or 3 different coloured bibs
- Players get a point each time they dribble into a new square, are not allowed to be in the same square as anyone with their colour
- Go for 30 seconds/1 minute, then see who won
Coaching points:
- Dribbling technique (close touches, use both feet, keep ball under control)
- Look up, vision, timing of movement
Progression:

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Aim:
- Improving Dribbling out from the back in the Secure zone
- Warming up to improving dribbling technique and vision
Organisation:

Coaching Points:
- Lots of touches
- Specific moves
- Use both feet
- Look up while dribbling
- Dribble to where there is space
- Change of speed/use of moves to beat defender
Progressions:
- Add one defender on the mid line who can defend on the line as players dribble across

- Allow defender to defend in the middle two zones
- Add two defenders (one in each zone)
- If player gets tackled they swap into zone
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Aim:
- Improving 1v1 dribbling forward to beat a defender
Organisation:
- Each channel approximately 10 wide by 25 long
- 3 players per channel, start with one on each side, and one in the middle
- Player in blue tries to dribble across and beat the defender 1v1, if he succeeds, the white player now tries to go across and back.
- If defender wins the ball, they have to dribble out of the opposite end, and then the player who lost it becomes new defender
Coaching Points:
- How can you beat the defender?
- Change of speed, change of direction
- Moves, disguise intent
- Dribble where there is space
- Protect the ball
Progressions:
- Have 2 players on side ball begins from so each player only has to go from one side to the other
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Aim:
- Improving Dribbling to progress forward from the back in the Secure zone
- Recognising when to dribble forward, and when to pass to player in space
Organisation:
- 18 wide by 28 long (split into 4 zones)
- 4 players, 3 attacking, 1 defending with one ball
- Players on the end have to get the ball over to the over side for a point, if defender wins the ball then a new player goes in
- Once the ball is dribbled or passed across the first zone the defender can defend
Coaching Points:
- Look up while dribbling
- Dribble fast when there is space
- Change of speed/use of moves to beat defender
- When can you pass to teammate or dribble across? (how do you know?)
- How can you move to receive the ball
- What kind of pass do you want to give your teammate?
Progressions:
- 2 defenders in the middle, 2 players on each side
- If defender wins it, tries to score on goals at either end, player who lost it tries to defend him
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.

- Team of 3 has to dribble over the endline, team of 2 if they win it has to score on the goal
- First team to 10
- Rotate defenders each time, and potentially attackers
Coaching Points:
- Look up while dribbling
