Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Chipmunk

Chipmunk

Setup:

• Two pugg sized goals lined up back to back with a small (1-3 yard) space between them. Square grid 10-15x10-15, adjust as needed for ages and stages.

Activity:

• Ball is played from one end (defender) to the other (attacker) and 1v1 ensues, but the attacker can use the players on the outside to pass and then try to lose defender.
• Can do any level of combinations of passes before make the 1v1 live, as in the video.

Progressions:

• Put the goals back to back facing the defender and attacker, and players have to play a one-touch chip over the goals to play the ball to the attacker.

Coaching Points:

• 1v1 moves...take the defender one way (setup) with a move then explode changing direction and speed going other way
• Lose your man. When you pass to a teammate on the outside, can you get on the back of the defender and then use two runs (one to fake the defender, the other to get open) to lose your defender.
