Running with the ball (Warm up) (20 mins)
Organisation:
32x16yd area split into 3 zones as above
Players split into two groups
A ball per player.
Instructions:
Players perform ball manipulation / dribbling exercises in their 8x16yd area.
On the coaches whistle the players are to make their way accross the central area and into the opposit 8x16yd area as quickly as possible and then continue with the ball manipulation / dribbling exercises until the coach blows his whistle again and the drill repeats.
Progression:
Introduce competition to the drill. The last player into the area is eliminated until one team has no players left.
Coaching Points:
BIG first touch out of feet
Get into running stride, Try not to break stride pattern
Make contact with laces
Keep your head up
Accelarate and try to keep at top speed.
