Small Sided Game
- Same as MDG but players are not conditioned to staying in Zone or Areas. Flat markers are placed down as guidence for Central players to aim to stay between when the ball is in wide areas.
- Red Formation - 4-3-2. (11v11 = 4-4-2)
- Blue Formation - 4-3-2. (11v11= 4-4-2)
Player Key Roles
1 - Good distribution, try to play quick ball.
2 & 3 - Show attacking player outside, try to overlap and support WMF as often as possible.
5 & 6 - Defending headers need to be strong and dominant when defending.
7 & 11 - Good delivery crosses, aim to be between the edge of 6 yard box and back post when opposite side winger is crossing the ball to support central players. Timings or run and angle of approach.
8 - look to play split passes for WMF to run in behind and cross off, aim to be inline with the penalty spot at the edge of the 18 yard box for pull backs or poor clearances, shoot on sight.
9 & 10 - Look to get into te box, aim to be between front post and penalty spot when ball is crossed and other player aim to be in or around the penalty spot. Try to use trigger words such as 'Switch' to switch running lines and swap who runs where when the ball is being crossed.

MDG (20 mins)
Multi-Directional Game - 20 Minutes.
Red & Blue have same amount of players and play in the same positions.
GK, 2 Wide Players, 4 Attackers/Defenders. (Both Teams).
Players are required to play 2 positions during this game.
Blue Team
- 3 would become 11 when attacking Goal 2.
- 2 would become 7 when attacking Goal 2.
- 5 & 6 would become 9 & 10 when attacking Goal 2.
Same would apply for Red Team. Central Players would either be a 5 & 6 or a 9 & 10. Wide players would be either 2 & 3 or a 7 & 11.
Game Rules
- GK are not part of a team. (Don't work with just red or blues).
- Players score in both sets of goals.
- If a team scores possession stays with that team.
- GK that conceeded the goal starts with the ball and plays it out to the wide players on the team that just scored past them. (E.G. Blue Team score, GK passes the ball to a blue wide player).
- If Blues score in 'Goal 1', they then recieve the ball of the GK they scored past and try to score in 'Goal 2'.
- If a team cross the ball and a defending player clears, defending team can try and score a goal in opposite goal. (E.G. If reds are scoring in Goal 1 and Blue defender heads away, if the blue have possession they can try and score in Goal 2).
Players Aims;
- Cross the ball and Score a goal.
- Good Quality and Accuracy of Crosses from wide players. (between Defender and GK).
- Movement from Central players to find space and create finishing chances. (Running lines, starting positions).
- When heading the ball at goal, try to header down into the ground rather than up.
- Central attackers - try to switch runs, go from front to back post. Create key words and triggers to switch up play and not be predictable.
- Players crossing the ball, look to play various crosses. High a crosses, Driven front post/ back post, look to cut back to player on the edge of the box.
Progressions
- Can FB overlap and cross the ball.
- Try crosses from 'Deep'.
- Opposite side WMF who is not crossing can come into middle zone when the ball is being crossed.
- 1 of the defensive players can push into the attacking zone when the ball is being crossed.
