Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): Mobility: Playing Out of the Back (Start Time: 2023-11-01 18:00:00)

Passing, receiving and mobility in tight spaces (20 mins)

Organization: Set up pitch as per diagram. 6 vs 6 + 4

Activity:

The team in possession passes the ball to one end two center backs to score a goal. If this is successfully done, the team in possession maintains the ball and works the ball in the other direction to the center backs at the other end of the area. The team keeps the ball until the opposition wins it or it goes out of play (replicating a game situation).

Players must keep the ball below 'head height' to encourage combination play in tight areas.

Coaching Points:

• Players need to use good movement patterns to put themselves in a position to see the ball and the target they are playing to.
• Players need to be able to see the ball to offer good supporting positions ahead, to the side and behind the ball to offer supporting angles to move the opponent to play forward.
• As often as possible and when the opportunities present themselves, attackers need to be able to penetrate with passes around or through to a target.
