Competitive Running
2 Setups
Instruction
Flat Markers set up in a square 10 away from each other
5 each side
Team 1 looking to get over the flat marker while Team 2 are trying to tag the player before he gets there. Players go on coaches command.
Both teams attack and defend going to both sides.
Keep score 1 point for making it over no point for catching
Variation 2
Team 3 can go either side- right or left; team 4 attempting to stop them
Again switch roles and continue to keep score
Final is the same as Variation 2
Only difference is coach does not say go, players must make eye contact and when the move the game is live.

Objective: WE & They deal with different game situations
Note: Progression of Defender are: 1) Passive Defending (pressure but no challenge-tackle the ball 2) Partial-defending limited area (ex. 2yd. front-back defending line). 3) Free-defending no restriction area.
Organization: 3-6 players, 20x10 grid
Progression: NOTE progression from easy to more difficult
1) Attacker starts with ball Def. 1st. (partial defending 2 yd. front & back from defending line). Defender chase to goal line.
2) Pass-Receive to Feet go to goal. Variation: Start defender in a zone far from Attacker. Move defender close for more pressure.
3) Same as 2 but ball is passed to space
4) Pass-Receive. High pressure from defender.
Coaching points: Attacker: 1) Controlled first touch 2) Look for defender’s weakness, body angle, off balance, space on the field 3) Change of speed, feint, look for defender’s weakness – body angle, off balance, space 4) Accelerate after beating defender – cut off defender 5) Good transition if loss of ball
Defense: 1)Keep attacker in front 2)Keep eyes on the ball 3)Good balance, leaning forward with knees bent 4)Keep moving feet, fake to poke the ball 5)Timing – when to tackle (ball separation from attacker foot)Note: if ball gets behind, def. must first put body 6)between ball & attacker (in the path of A. run).

Objective:
To create 1v1 situations . Player in middle must connect with one of the wall players after passing the middle cone. Players switch every time a pass is made thus force a new 1 v1 each time.
Organization:
Square 8x8 6 players per organization (3/organizations)

2 setups- 1 with Pugg goals, 1 with real goals 5v5 on each field
Objective:
Play a small sided game with a condition that forces 1v1's
Organization:
Players choose an opponent that they will mark the entire game. Only the players opponent are allowed to tackle them meaning 1v1s everywhere.
Players are allowed to pass
Progression:
When a team scores the opponent of the team that scores must do 10 push ups and winners restart , meaning a quick overload in numbers.
Coaching points:
Always be aware of where your opponent is when they have the ball.
When your team get the ball get open
If you receive the ball be direct and try and score
