Attacking Combinations - Technical Practice (16 players)
Organisation
Two grids (20 x15yd) and (5x5yd box). Two balls starting in opposite corners passing using the pattern as shown. Rotation is to follow pass.
Variation - 1) extra 1-2 between passes 3 and 4 2) Balls start in opposite corners and play using left side.
Progression - insistence on one two combinations all through the exercise.
Coaching Points
- Accurate passes / movement off outside cones
- Away / towards movement from striker
- away (open up passing lane ) then timing and angle of support from second striker

Directional Possession - (3 x 4 min games)
Organisation
5v5 in central 30 x 30yd area, with 2 players on each end line. Blues play horizontally, whites play vertically. 3 touch maximum. Player that passes swaps with end players.
Progression
2 touch then 1 touch
After 5 passes player can link with end player to score in mini goal

- detail on the pass (safe side, weight, making up team mates mind)
- movement to make space (opposites, check off)
- bodyshape to receive (scan then side on)
- creating space for others, making the field big, opening up passing lanes

3v3 - Four goal game - 3 x 4 mins
Organisation
5v5 on 30 x 30yd field with a mini goal at each end as shown. Neutral players in each corner. Coaching emphasis is on the movement of players into space to receive the ball. Each team can score into two designated goals.
Progression
- Teams can score in any goal.
Competition
- Keep score in each 4 min game
Coaching Points
- Movement to lose opponent and create space to receive the ball (opposites / rotations - making space for others)
- Quick decisons (thinking about pass before receiving the ball)
- Reaction to losing possession (quick transition into defensive position)

1) Unlimited touches - 2 mins
