Movement #1:
Shifting across the pitch side to side, takes a lot of discipline from all the players. Trying to restrict the passing lanes from the GK & CB's will force them to play the ball long. If we remain compact and disciplined, and they still try to play through, it will reap its rewards.
We will have 3/4/5 players in the attacking 3rd to spring an attack on their defense.
We are looking for players to communicate with the players in front of them to guide the attacking side in to mistakes or in to areas that will allow us to spring a trap.
The main aim is to cut off the passing lanes to the Fullbacks & the DM, so the intensity needed to get these passing lanes is paramount in the success of these movements.
If we stop them from initially playing out, it will force the long ball, where our FB's and CB's will be ready to challenge for in a match scenario.

Key Factors:
This is a team session aimed at defensive set up for match day scenarios of defending from the front line.
The aim is to encourage communication and repetition of movements as a unit. Theses defensive memory sessions help aid against teams looking to play out from the back. Setting traps to encourage them to play out, can provide our team with defensive success high up the pitch.
This session is only as short as the players want it to be. It requires them to be concentrated, disciplined and communicating to each other for the teams benefit.
Session Plan:
- The session will start with the Blue Team playing with unlimited touches.
- Play will continue until the ball has gone out of play, or the Blue Team has managed to get the ball in to their players in the highlighted areas
- If the Red Team intercepts a pass, the will then spring a counter attack on the Blue Team with 3/4 players. The other 2/3 Red Players are to remain in a central position to stop and counter attacks.
- When the ball goes out of play, both teams players are to recover to their statrting postitions.
If the session is successful, remove the restricted areas for the Blue Team, making the Red Team
have to communicate more to adjust their positions and movements.
Organisation:
- Full Half Pitch
- 4 Highlighted Areas for the attacking Fullbacks and Midfielders
- 6 Cones (Defensive starting points)
- 14 Players (1 GK)
- 7 Blue Bibs
- 6 Red Bibs
