Instructions
1. team in possession will play a 3v2 and must attempt to penetrate ball to their #9
2. in order to get the ball to their #9 they must use neutral wide players #7 or #9 (team will get an extra point if they can play a through ball through the wide gates)
3. once ball is received by a wide play they can join the #9 to make it a 2v1 to goal
4. if defending team wins ball they can combine with wide players to make a 3v2 or 2v1 against either side
Coaching Points
3rd attacker – Width (7/11)
-Movement wide to create passing lanes
-Movement deep to go in behind and receive in behind
-Movement high to check back to get to feet o Decision of 1st attacker (penetrate / possess / play behind) effected by movement of 3rd
attacker
-Position of 2nd attackers (deep to allow switch)
-Angle of receiving player
-Technique and recognition to combine centrally to compact defense before going wide
-Technique and recognition to play driven or lofted ball wide
-Speed of play
3rd attacker (7/11) – Depth
-Movement away(long) to create team space
-Can I check back to receive the ball?
-Drifting away as ball travels whilst still seeing the ball and leaving space open you want to move into
-Recognition teammate is going to pass (visual cue – head up, head down / player in possession is about to be under pressure)
-Quality and timing of run to receive when checking into space (how is the defender affected, not coming too deep into 2nd attacker’s
line)
-Decision to make diagonal or straight runs in behind / Onside tactics

1. once wide player receives ball to make it 2v1 opposing neutral will assist the other defender to make it 2v2
