Dog Walking
Group Size: 8-12 Players
Duration: 12-15 Minutes
Set-up random gates (about one gate player). Players are told to take their 'dog' (the ball) for a walk.
1.) They will try to get as many treats as possible (by going through the gates) in ONE minute.
2.) Players will then play again, trying to beat their previous score by 3.
3.) Introduce a change of direction move:
Players now dribble and stop the ball in the gate, do a pull-back, and find another gate for a point.
Variation 1:
Add two players (defenders) who will try to steal a player's ball and try to dribble through gates. If a player ball gets stolen, they should try to steal another person's ball.
Coaching Points:
Keep ball close and under control
Keep head up to find the next gate quickly - and to spot defenders (variation one)
Use change of directions to avoid defenders (variation one)
Sheild ball with body to keep posession

Expanded Small-Sided Activity
Duration: 15 Minutes
Players play 3v3 (4v4 or 2v2 are possible depending on amount of participants) trying to score on either of the 3 goals across from them. Players cannot SHOOT. They must dribble through the goal and stop it after they go through it.
Scoring team will stay on, and the losing team sits out while the next team comes on to play. (i.e. if blue scores, orange team comes in, green team will take it's place on the end line).
Team who scores 5 goals, wins game.
Coaching Points:
Dribble to un-defended goals.
Sheild ball
Change directions to find open space/goals
Use teammates if you get into trouble. (U6/U8 players should be encouraged to dribble out of pressure as much as possible)

Chop The Tree
Group Size: 8-14 Players
Duration: 10 Minutes
Organization:
30 x 25 yard box, all players have a ball.
Players dribble with the ball at their feet. Players will try to use ther 'axe' (the ball) to chop the 'tree' down (the coach) by hitting the coach with their ball. Coach will move around the field trying to avoid the player's balls.
Players get a point when they hit the coach. After the coach gets hit 10x, coach will fall down and yell 'TIMBER'. Player who knocks coach down with the 10th hit is celebrated.
Coaching Points:
Dribble the ball closely - so you can control it
Keep your head up - locate the 'TREE'
Use the proper surface (laces), keeping ankle locked.
Variation:
Have players 'resharpen' their axe if they miss the 'Tree' by doing 5 toe taps before dribbling again.
