Principles of Play session. 15 min ball mastery warm up. Easy set up and progression.

2v2 to 2 wide goals. Players compete until a goal is scored or ball leaves the grid. Instructor plays the ball in from the side. Can send ball into neutral spaces or corners to start, vary the delivery (bouncing etc).
Instruction points :
- Penetration & support (now there's a support player) in possession
- Delay (pressure) & support without possession
- see the SPACE, use your SKILL, attack with SPEED
- support player in possession - angle/distance/timing
- support player out of possession - angle/distance/body shape

4v4+1 SSG with 6 goals. 1 player in behind play in support behind the ball at all times. Middle goal is 1 touch finish. Play for a couple minutes and switch roles.
Instruction points :
- Dispersal, Penetration, Support, Movement in possession (3rd & 4th players now) in possession
- Delay, Support, Cover/Balance, Compactness (3rd & 4th players now) out of possession
- individual, pairs then small group instruction

1v1 to angled goals (20 mins)
1v1 to goals on angles. One team feeds ball in and can't pressure until after 1st touch is taken. Play conitunes until a goal is scored or ball leaves the space. Keep track of goals and switch roles after a set period of time.
Instruction points :
- Penetration (principle of play)
- see the SPACE, use your SKILL, attack with SPEED
- slow/medium speed on approach, with smaller touches. Why?
- try to get defender off balanced and attack back foot. How?
- how can we go past a player and protect the ball best?
- be brave!
