Set up: 18x25 yrd Sq with 4 target goals set up 5 yrds back on each side. Play 3v3 with 3 def in middle Vs 1 CM player with 2 wide. Floating players on opposite sides as in diagram. Coach at side with balls.

Format: Players look to get the ball from target players via CM player, wide players can be used to move the ball around and unbalance def but they cannot transfer it. If Def win the ball they attempt to score in any small goal. Def remain compact and try to block passing lanes into CM and can decide to press wide players.

Progressions: End to end game, wide players can switch to target players but a point will only be awarded if play is through CM.

Key Points: Block passing lanes Players should look to block any passes through the centre of the field whilst also blocking passing lines to the Reds when the ball is played into wide areas.

Marking players When the ball is played to wide areas, players should look to pick up the player in the middle of the field to reduce the options to pass to when in possession.

Pressing Players should recognise when to press and when to hold based up certain triggers such as bad touch, poor pass and bouncing ball.

Def team challenge - to stay compact and reduce the options for the players to play directly to the F through the centre of the field

Def to block the F and pick up the central Green when the ball is wide, forcing the play back to or to anticipate a press.

Do we always have to stop the CM to receive the ball or stop them playing forward, Traps??
