Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): 3v3 +1 End Zone Game

Description

ORGANISATION

• Area 18 x 15m, with 3m end zone at each end.
• 3 Blue players v 3 Yellow players with 1 Red player as Link Up player.
• The attacking team score by dribbling into end zone and through red gate via good combination play.
• If attacking team successful, they keep the ball and look to attack the opposite end.
• If opposition win the ball, they transition to attack with other team transitioning to defend.
• When the ball leaves play, players are encouraged to dribble the ball back into play or if that’s not an option they can pass.
• Red player to receive in between and behind the lines with two touches on the football.

KEY FACTORS

• Let the game flow freely, not too much stops, let the players solve the problems
• Open body shape/receive on the foot/attack the space
• Encourage creative play
• Close control, head up, use both feet
• Changes of direction, don’t sacrifice technique for speed
• Good decision making on when to dribble, when to pass and when to make ‘3rd Player Run'  

NOTES

If players of good ability encourage quick play such as ‘touch limit and time limit to score’.
