High intensity runs - periods of work followed by periods of rest. The aim is to develop speed, agility and lactate threshold. This type of running can be replicated in a game - recovery runs / supporting runs / HI pressing.

- Aim to develop speed and agility. Coaches can compare this to a recovery run or a supporting run
- The session will also help to develop lactate threshold
- Players start by running the course, they have 40 seconds to complete / 40 seconds rest. They then move onto the second course - 30 seconds work, 30 seconds rest. The third and final course is 20 seconds on / 20 seconds rest
- Players then have 90 seconds to recover. They will then move onto interval 2
- Players can complete 4-6 intervals, depending on coaches aims
