Simple diving and handling drill for all ages. This drill works on the 3 heights of collapsed diving techniques.
GK starts in centre of the goal and moves to his left to touch the cone, eyes remain on the ball at all times and small steps should be taking to keep balance and speed.
From touching the cone the GK should dive using a positive angle and dive low to the right, swivel up and aim to touch the cone again and then dive over to mid height to the right and swivel once more touch the cone and drive across and dive high to the right.
Aim to perform this 6 times to the right and 6 times to the left.
Key areas to note:
- Fast footwork to increase speed across the goal
- Keep eyes on the ball when touching the cone to keep good habits and posture
- Lead with 2 arms if speed of the ball allows to ensure possession kept of the ball
- When swiveling in between ensure GK faces out towards the football
