Warm Up Patterns (10 mins)

Optional before: 

Basic sets of volleys/1/2 volleys/low driven 2 x 4 reps per service with half turn. 

2 x 4 reps low dive either side with basic footwork into dive. 

Main Warm-Up

GK steps into set. Receives low dive. Readjusts for second strike on whichever side first serve is played. 

2 sets each side - 4 reps per set. 

Coaching points: 

- set position (hands, balance, height etc.)

- diving technique (weight forward, attack ball, secure ball)

Main Drill

Phase 1:

Gk receives from 1. Plays first time to 2. 2 receives, sets to outside of mannequin and strikes low in and around keeper. Repeat for same pattern playing to 3. 

2 sets - 4 reps. 

Phase 2: 2 and 3 can now touch either inside or outside mannequin. Same rep scheme. 

Phase 3: 1 plays GK, Gk plays 2. Touch and hit. 1 then plays directly to three and GK recovers for second strike. Same rep scheme. 

Phase 4: 1, 2 and 3 can all combine after initial GK pass. Whoever doesn't shoot receives second  ball fro 1 and can either strike or play back to 1 for 1 to strike. Same rep scheme. 

Coaching points:

Balance/ set position

Diving mechanics

Positioning + readjustments

2 hands v 1 hand. Catch v parry. Safe areas to parry. 

Notes: play rebounds live at all times. Strikes focused on low either side of keeper.
