Horizontal Compactness Game (15 mins)

Organization: Half field divided into four horizontal zones. Balls behind goals. 14 players - 6 red, 6 blue + 2 goalkeepers. Each team plays 1-2-3-1.  

Activity: Play a regular game with regular rules. After three minutes add the following condition: the defending team must have all their players in the zone with the ball and the two zones immediately behind the zone where the ball is located. As the attacking team plays into a different zone, the defending team must adjust and move into three new zones.

Coaching Points

First, second and third defender responsibilities.

Compactness - limit channels that the opposition can play through.

Keep everything in front - don't chase!

Have balance in defence.

Communication.

Final Game (15 mins)

Organization: 50*40 field (Quarter field at PG). Supply of balls along the outside and in the goals.

Activity: 2 teams - Play 7v7 (including GK). LOTG apply, including retreat line. Each team plays 1-2-3-1. Perhaps some coaching over, but otherwise allow for free play. Award an extra point for every successful attempt (even if just wide) or shot on goal (even if saved).
