Counter Attacking

2v2 Waves(flying changes)
Transition game focusing on fast counter attacking.
If the ball leaves the grid anywhere on your team's side the two on the field run off and their teammates come on with a ball. Paying attention when you are waiting to come on is very important, if you can catch the defenders not paying attention/distracted you can get to goal with little opposition.
Work on when to pass and when to dribble, encourage shooting.

4v4 Transition Game
No one on either team is allowed to cross the halfway line until the ball does. This forces players to wait for passes to be delivered and simulates holding a run against a back line of defenders in order to stay onside. It also creates a problem for defenders since most of the time they are chasing the ball towards their own goal. I want the attacking team to succeed here so the more goals the better.
Work on splitting defenders and leading passes, as well as chipping the ball over defenders into wide runners. How quickly can the attackers go so the defenders don't have time to get organized.

Scrimmage
Finish with a normal game. Continue emphasizing transitioning to attack quickly. Any team that scores 10 seconds after winning the ball back is awarded 2 goals instead of 1 in order to encourage faster attacks.

Warm_up Box Passing (20 mins)
Warm up
10 x 10 yard box
Manipulating passes. Warm up touch with some passing techniques, shaping the ball both ways around the cone as well as chipping the ball over it. The cone acts like a defender.
Transition into passing game where players must pass the opposite side of the cone they received from(taking the first touch across your body).
Finish with a mirror game. The player that passes must move to a new side of the square directly after they pass. The player receiving must dribble/move opposite the player who passed. This makes them get their head up and read the body movement of the player without the ball.
