Explanation
This SSG is a final third practice looking to create chances by creating overloads and how to exploit them.
The Goalkeepers will keep score
The drill is set up like:
As a 5vs5 but each player has a designated
Attacking Team Challenge- If they can score a goal with 1 Touch from the start of the first pass to the finish they can gain an extra point if they score
Defending Team Challenge- If they can win the ball outside the 18 Yard box and score they get an extra point
Conditions:
When your number is called you have to dribble through the teams side of the field, the quicker they complete the pattern the quicker they can create the overload in attack
In the oppositions box they have 3 seconds on the ball max
Progressions:
The attackers must overlap on each pass they play
Regression:
Defenders can only win the ball in the 18-yard box
Key Points:
Drive toward the goal, not in a Straight line- Try to give yourself 3 options
Attack the defender with speed
Technical point of the pass- Placement and power
Technical Point of the receiving the ball- Touch into Space be Positive
Tactical Point, Movement- Movement on and off of the ball
Interventions
Drive By
Fly By,
Concurrent,
Terminal,
Wild Fire
1 Freeze Point once
How To Measure Success
Did they have shots on goal?
How many times were the players able to break inside the 18-yard box
Did the players create a 1 on 1s with the keeper

Explanation
The drill is a Wave game where the attacking team always has an extra player.
The Goalkeepers will keep score
The drill is set up like:
2 Attacker vs 1 Defender + GK- 20 seconds to score
3 Attackers vs 2 Defender + GK- 20 seconds to score
The next Attacker and Defender join in when the Ball goes dead or a goal is scored
Once this round is over, the Players reset as quickly as they can and then go again.
After the 2nd Block I will use a coaching Process called Wild Fire and I will use this by passing each GK a Piece of Paper with Challenges for their team to work towards to get more points:
Attacking Team Challenge- If they can score a goal with 1 Touch from the start of the first pass to the finish they can gain an extra point if they score
Defending Team Challenge- If they can win the ball outside the 18 Yard box and score they get an extra point
Conditions:
The First Block- The Attacker only has 20 seconds to score
The Other Blocks- The Attackers have 15 seconds to score
The Defenders win the ball they have 8 Seconds to score
Progressions:
The attackers have 3 seconds on the ball and 15 seconds to score
Allow the Attacking team Team to play out to the channel unopposed but they only have 1 touch to deliver the ball back into play
Regression:
Defenders can only win the ball in the 18-yard box
Key Points:
Drive toward the goal, not in a Straight line- Try to give yourself 3 options
Attack the defender with speed
