Coach a back 4 on its positioning and movement

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Defensive Principles and Key Factors:
Delay: Pressure on the player in possession, support/cover for "pressure", marking of opponents and compression by the back 4 to reduce the space in lines of defense
Depth: Discouraging opponents from playing behind, between or around the defense, establish triangular relationships
Compactness: outnumber the opponent around the ball, outnumber the opponent between the ball and the goal
Cover/Balance: angle of cover, distance of cover, timing and denying space
Control/Restraing: priority, risk, individual and group responsibilities
Surprise: doing the unexpected, with understanding between a group, desire to win the ball back

Set-Up and Organization:
Phase of Play - coach back 4 on its positioning and movement. Uses full width with length carrying 5 - 10 yards over halfway. Collection of balls in server's square, with others in opposite goal and surrounding the pitch. Red attack the regular goal while blue attempt to play into the server's square and recieve a return pass over the line from server. Game is 7 (Blue+Server) v 6 (Red).
Formations:
Blue is set up with a back 4 and two central midfielders and goalkeeper. Red is set up with a three central midfielders, two wide midfielders and a centre-forward. This replicates a 4-4-2 set-up for Blue and 4-3-3 set-up for Red.
Instructions & Rules:
Ball is served in from the server's square into red, from there red attempts to score on blue's goal. If blue win's the ball, they attempt to play into server and recieve a return pass over the line, to the side of the square. Regular game rules apply (off-sides, corners, throw-in's and goalkicks)
Coaching Points:
Coach the back 4 on their positioning and movement while red is in possession. The back 4 must attempt to maintain suffeciant pressure, cover, balance and support while working in a unit.
