Technical Warm-up “Quick Possession/Immediate Chase”
-One 10x10 grid with 5 Possession based players, two lines of defending players
-One defender goes into the grid once the coach plays the first ball into the grid
-Defender has 10 seconds to win the ball or must go to the back of the line
Coaching Points:
-Concept of “immediate chase”
- body shape: don't overrun the ball
- awareness: while running and outnumbered, can you still make play predictable and force an error?
-Possession based team must play quickly
-Know where you are going before you receive the ball

Psychological visual processing, communication for collective decision making |
6v6 to goal & counter.
All restarts with coach who play CM, who chooses which winger to play to; no restrictions after 1st pass.
First concept: control of restraining line (applying principles of compactness & depth)
Coaching points:
Communication: collective decision making, staying within 10 yards of each other defending the middle of the park (fullback pressures winger)
Midfielders stay within 10-15 yards of backs -- do no expose space between lines
Weakside fullback must be aware of winger and retreat as needed -- but must communicate across line, not dropping deeper than center backs
GK controls the area behind restraining line -- involved in collective decision to drop as ball is served from nearer (less distance for ball to travel = less time ball is in flight = less space GK can control)
depth, compactness, balance

6v6
Concept 2: controlling defensive areas (applying principles of pressure, delay, balance)
Coaching Points:
Fullback nearest must decide whether to pressure or drop (depends on numbers behind -- communication from center back to insure center is protected)
Fullbacks first duty is deny the cross NOT win the ball (delay)
Defenders must anticipate strikers movements and move to cover all finishing areas. Near center back covers front post, weakside full back covers far post
Central midfielder (usually weakside, but be aware if disconnected in flow of game) tracks back to cover any late breaking midfielders into zone 14; also positioned to collect 2d balls and launch the counter.
patience, delay, balance

Concept 3 -- movment on the second action
Coaching points:
midfielder must push out, but be aware of protecting the passing lane as they do so; roles reverse as the ball switches from side to side.
Backs take vertical space as a unit as ball moves sideways or backwards; use the restraining line as a tool to "mark" lazy forwards out of the game.
Always stay organized and aware of each other -- do not allow gaps to develop as we move out and shift as a unit
depth, discipline, balance

Bruyninckx Awareness Warmup (15 mins)
Bruyninckx awarenes warmup:
Players are in equal lines; opposite lines move at same time, going behind cone and turning behind each other. Line abreast becomes line in-file; line in-file becomes line abreast. Players should be aware not only of their own line but line opposite, so all eight players turn simultaneously.
Progressions: line abreast does hip openers/ closers; line in-file does helicopters/ carioca
Follow with balance and core work: planks, donkey kicks, balance, one leg laterals
