1 v GK

1v1(GK)

Goal Keeper plays the first ball out to Player #2. Player #2 is the first attacker.

Restrictions: No 1 touch shots and must shoot before the 6 yard box

Attacking coaching points: aim for a quality, controlling first touch that cuts the ball to your dominant foot. Shoot for the 4 corners.

Defending coaching points: deliver a strong ball, don't chase the ball out (makes you vulnerable to the quick high shot), hold your position and adjust to the ball line to get set, cut off shot angles, close the distance in low, balanced body position if they choose to dribble at you.

If GK makes the save, she plays the ball out to Player #3. If GK does not make the save, Player #3 has the advantage of dribbling in. Player #2 transitions to first defender, Player #3 is the first attacker.

Restrictions: No 1 touch shots and must shoot before the 6 yard box

Attacking coaching points: aim for a quality, controlling first touch that cuts the ball to your dominant foot and provides the most possible vision to goal. Try to dribble at the defender's back heel to force them to cut or spin and gain time/space for yourself.

Defending coaching points: Curving run to cut off the quick cut in or early shot. Speed, slow, sideways, low. The GK should act as a second defender/cover and use their voice. Win the ball and play it back to line #2.

First attacker mindset: 1. can I shoot? 2. if I can't, can I get it to someone who can shoot? Second attacker should be creating either width or depth for their teammate through their runs into space.

Defending coaching points: Curving run to cut off the quick cut in or early shot. Speed, slow, sideways, low. Pressure and cover defending is constantly in transition. The GK should direct the D by using their voice. Win the ball and play it back to lines #2 or 3.
