Session
Chloe Schleichkorn
U16 OPDL Bayhawk
December 2s1st, 2020 - 6:00-7:00pm
Session Topic: Counter-Attacking
Principles: Dispersal vs Compactness
Field: 50x40yds - zone 1&2
Equipment
1 large goal, 2 small goals, soccer balls, 7 x yellow pinnies, 6 black pinnies, 1 green GK pinnie
Instructions
Black team sets up as 1-2-3-1. Yellow team sets up as a 1-3-3. Yellow team starts with the ball and attempts to build up to score on large goal. Black utilizes defending principles of play (compactness, delay, cover, control/restraint) to regain possession and counter attack by dribbling the ball through the red gates. Ultimately, the black team is looking to recover the ball and counter through zone 1 and 2. Restarts from GK, laws of the game with no corners.
Coaching Points
Establish compactness when not in possession
Quick transition from compact to dispersing upon regaining of possession
Regain - look for immediate forward play via passing or running with the ball
Exhibit attacking principles of play - mobility, penetration, support and improvisation
Progression
Add another yellow player to make it an 6v5.
Can open up the flanks and add additional players with an extra target net (making it a total of 3)
