This session focuses on drawing the defense to the ball, then filling the space created by the defense so we can get a clean shot on goal.

Game Objective: Keep the ball away from the defender and play it to the opposite side.
Topic: Box Cross
Phase: Finish
Problem: Defenders drawn to the ball in the box
Who: 9, 10, 8
Where: Attacking penalty box
When: When defenders come to the ball and create space for us.
What: 1) Drawing the defense to us. 2) Playing the ball to the open man.
Why: to help the attacker move the ball quickly while in the box. This game forces (a) the middle player to create space so he can receive a pass. (b) the passer to draw the defender.
Layout: Two 10x15 grids.
Restrictions: 3v1 directional rondo. 12 rotations; 90 seconds per rotation; 1 minute rest per rotation
Scoring: Two points for every connected pass to the other side.
Game: Keep away from the defender. Should defender recover the ball, then he goes on the attack.
Coaching Points: Cognitive: 1. Be alert, scanning constantly, as you are always in play. (perception) 2. Constantly think about where you need to be to create space and play the ball. (conception) 3. Make a decsion where to play the ball. 4. Devise a move to decieve the defender, if needed. 5. Play the ball (execution) 6. Assses
Technical: 1. Keep your hips open to the center to be able to play any option. (receiving) 2. Use both feet staying balanced on the balls of your feet. (ball control) 3. Make subtle changes in your positioning to create angles and keep passing lanes open. (positioning) 4. Pass to back foot. (passing) 5. Receive across your body.

Topic: Box Cross
Phase: Finish
Problem: Defense drawn to the ball and we can't get a shot off.
Who: 8.9.10
Where: Attacking third box
When: defense draw near or when we get to the line.
What: Play ball toward goal either a cutback or a cross. Body shape of attackers should face the goal.
Why: to score
Layout: Two boxes and two goals.
Restrictions: Ball has to cross mid line and one pass must be played inside box before shooting. Two games of six minutes with 3 minute break.
Scoring: Two points for each cross and score.
Game: Regular game.
Coaching Points: 1. Draw defense away from the mouth of the goal. 2. Sneak players into the space created by defenders drawing to ball. 3) Make firm pass.

Game: 3 v 1 Rondo until pressure is broken. Everyone breaks into box, even the trailing defender. Attacking team must score
Coaching Points: 1. Draw defense away from the mouth of the goal. 2. Sneak players into the space created by defenders drawing to ball. 3) Make firm pass.
