|
Physical Constant 2v1s. Developing ABC's |
|
Psychological Decision making; pressing the ball. Confidence to win the ball back |
|
Social PLayers taking charge of their grid to let the drill run smoothly |
Key Factors
2 defenders and 2 attackers per grid.
1 defender and 2 attackers working. The other defender is resting. When ball is defended or attackers are successful, the defenders on team A switch.
Defenders will cut off the passing line to the other attacker.
Defender will then have a 1v1 with the attacker.
Organisation
2 grids (15metres x 20metres each)
Overall (30metres x 20metres)
Equipment
Red cones as pitch outline, 6 orange cones to indicating pitch corners, 4 blue bibs, 4 red bibs, 12 balls.
Drill
Player from Team A passes the ball to a player from Team B.
Team B try to dribble or pass to get past Team A’s player.
Team A will defend for 3 minutes and then the attackers (Team B) will become the defenders.
Players take charge of the grids for who is attacking and defending.
Progressions
Can the defender win the ball back and drive past the line?
Scores: 1 point = successful attack, 1 point= success defence and 3 points for defender if they win the ball and drive over attacking line.
Interventions
Fly by- highlight good examples
Drive by- Technique (Fast, Slow, Low, Show)
Coaching Process- Show how to create the 1v1 situations and win the ball.

Technical Using the right techniques when defending |
|

|

|

Equipment
12 orange cones, red cones for pitch outline, 4 red bibs, 4 blue bibs and 12 footballs
Rules

Defensive Technique (10 mins)
Key Factors
Get there fast, slow down, get low and show them wide. (non-contact)
Organisation
4 grids (7.5metres x 20metres), overall grid (24metres x 20metres) and 1 defender and 2 attackers in each grid.
Equipment
4 blue bibs, 4 red bibs, 10 red cones, 6 orange cones, 4 flat markers and 12 footballs
Drill
Player A pasess to Player B.
Player B tries to dribble around Player A.
Player A has to try pressure Player B out of the box.
If another ball is needed it is the players responsibility to get it.
Player A defends for 3 minutes and then they switch so Player B defends.
Progressions
If the attacker gets past the defender in 8 seconds, they get 2 points. The tempo should raise naturally and the increased speed of the attacker should test the defensive technique more.
Can the defender get upto the flat marker and slow down to defend before the attacker.
Interventions
Fly by- Good examples of technique.
Drive by- Technique (Fast, Slow, Low, Show)
Coaching Process- Step in to diagnose technical problems.
