Set Up
10 Minutes
2 grids 10x10 (adjust to bigger if your group needs)
Rondo: 5v1/4v1/4v2 (adjust to meet your group needs)
Equipment: Cones, Balls, Bibs
Game Explanation:
Round 1: 2 minute game - No coaching - Coaches observe the players keeping possession. Defender is holding the bib. Once defender wins the ball, or ball goes out of play, defender drops the bib. Player that gives the ball away must pick up the bib before defending. Player in the middle at the end has punishment.
What to watch for:
1. Are the players moving? Are they supporting their teammate? You will see many players standing still, ball being lost a lot because there is no movement to create better angles, support.
Round 2: Restriction - now player must move from to the other game after passing. For example: Player in Game 1 makes a pass, he/she must move to support in Game 2. We are now forcing players to move after passing to support a different ball.
Play a 2 minute game without coaching. Give coaching points after the 2 minute game. For the next game, coach the players in the flow of the game.
What to watch for:
1. How many players just kick the ball in a general area hoping someone is there? Are they actually thinking or just kicking?
2. Players now are forced to make a decision. Do I pass or do I need to dribble to keep possession? This game starts incorporates many concepts we worked on earlier in the clinic.
Questions to ask players during the game:
1. How are you supporting the play?
2. Where do you move?
3. What do you see?

Technical Work Set Up
15 Minutes
Creating Angles - Turning
2 Groups of 5 if possible.
Each exercise work for 1 minute, rest 30 seconds x 4 (total of 6 minutes, rotate direction each time). Make every 1 minute game a competition. Every time player breaks gate with first touch is a point
1. Player A takes a preparation touch out of feet letting Player B know to check. Player B checks to create an angle to break the gate. Player A passes to Player B, Player B opens hips to turn. As ball is traveling to Player B, Player C should be checking to create the angle to break the gate. Player B passes to Player C, Player C repeats to Player D. All players follow their pass and play continues in the diamond pattern.
Progression if you have time. Players now pass one direction, move the other direction.
Coaching Points:
1. Passing to the correct foot, accuracy counts
2. Timing of the checking run.
3. Receiving ball with the furthest foot, letting ball travel across our body, opening our hips
4. movement as soon as we play.
5. Communication

3v2 to mini goals - Possession with purpose
15 minutes
30x20 Grid with mini goals
Equipment: balls, cones, bibs, mini goals
3v2 to mini goals.
Play a 4 minute game and then rotate attacking and defending roles.
Game: 30x20 grid split into 2 halves.
Defender 1 starts with the ball and passes to either attacker A or B. As soon as ball is passed, attacker C and Defender 2 can move into the Attacking half.
Game is 2v1 in the defending half. Ball must be passed into attacker C in order to move into the attacking half. Once ball is in the attacking half, all players are allowed to move into the attacking half, making the game 3v2.
Defenders can counter on the mini goal.
Scoring:
+1 for scoring on the goals
Coach can award bonus points for correct decision making/passes/creative play
coaching points:
- decision making when to pass vs when to dribble
- angles of support
- committing defender
- disguising pass
- supporting attacking player C immediately once the entry pass is made
