Inverted Triangle in Midfield - Playing with a #6

#6 will act as the holding midfielder and support the #4 and #5 and play in front of the back line.

The #6 needs positional discipline and awareness. Do Not get sucked to the ball - remain an outlet to switch play and interchange with the #8 front to back - cover for each other if the #6 goes forward. Discipline is key. This player acts as a link between the back four and the two center-mids. (8 & 10)

The #6 looks to tuck in between the center-backs in transition, especially when one of the fullbacks has pushed up. This player distributes the ball from deep positions and will be required to play box-to-box. Be smart. Don't let us get caught out with the #4 and/or #5 playing 1v1.

8 AND 10 HIGH 2 & 3 INVERTED

#8 & #10 push high to support the #9 and to occupy the opposing back line - play in between the opposing defenders and mid field. #2 & #3 will push high and inside to receive the ball of the #6 and to combine with the #7 and #11. (if #7 and/or #11 come inside the alternate is true - with #2 & #3 using that as an opportunity to overlap into the corners) #9 should look to play in behind the opposing #4 and #5 to keep them occupied and off balance as we can penetrate from deep with the #8 or #10. start from an offside position and distract them. stay high and central between them. upon turnover the #9 will look to play ball thief from the front and come back to win the ball from behind. Harrass the midfield and press the goalie. Make play predictable.

We are looking for every chance to unbalance the opposing midfield and create short and long support for switching the point of attack, we stay compact and make sure we are protected against the counter - which we will defeat by counter pressing and winning the ball higher up the field immedaitely upon losing it. We are looking to play quickly and decisively in and around the box with combinations and numbers up situations.

Option A: get forward

Option B: get wide

Option C: near support 1 and 2 touch passes to imbalance the opposing defenders - force them to giveup space.

STAY Compact from back to front. Continue to push up and play a very high line. our #4 and #5 should be playing in the oppsoing half of the field and above the center line most of the game. Force mistakes - the keeper will be able to sweep up behind us and it gives us less terrritory to cover on turnovers as we are all closer together to recover behind the ball. #sprinttogether and never give up on the play. We will look to score within 10 seconds of any kick off - ours or theirs as we will press relentlessly to force a mistake. get forward, stay forward and take the oxygen out of their game.
