- Session focus is for players on the ball to recognize moments they can penetrate and to always look for that option. Open body position and attacking mindset in order to make this possible. Should be anticipating their next move and scanning options before receiving ball.
- For players making penetrating movements, focus is on playing off defenders shoulders, finding gaps, and changes of pace in order to get into gaps quickly. Players should be demanding the ball and be excited to get on it. Checking shoulders and trying to continue forward penetration once they receive the ball by either dribbling or making another forward pass.
**For this session, we are splitting into only two groups. We will place half the red team with black, and the other half with white. One group will start with a SSG, and the other group will be split in half to work on two separate 5v4 attacking sessions. At the halfway point of practice we will switch the groups. We chose to do this because we felt that more time in the game-like attacking situations would be beneficial for the group.**

*There will be 2 of these set up back to back.
- 5 Attacking Players attacking big goal
- 4 Defending Players attacking 2 pug nets @ halfway line
- Offiside line made clear with cones
Activity
- Attackers (Red): CM x 2, Wingers x 2, Striker x1
- Defenders (Blue): CB x 1, FB x2, CM x 1, GK x1
- Ball moves between the two Red CM players who on coaches command step out with the ball to begin the activity.
- Attackers look to create the opportunity to find the penatrating pass through the defending line for a player to run on to the ball. The player must stay onside.
- Defenders can recover & attackers can also go to goal/join the attack
- If the defenders win the ball they can get point by scoring in either of the pug nets.
Key points:
- Focus on creating triggers through movement
- Scanning the field constantly
- Creating passing lanes through opposite movements

6v6 SSG
Free play SSG but coaches will be looking for players to make offensive movements and recognize opportunities in the game situation.
Examples of patterns to look for/show:
A = isolated defender is an opportunity to attack 1v1
B = the opposite side winger cutting in towards goal in behind a high line to receive a through pass)
Continue to focus on the players creating triggers through their movements and moving more freely around field
