Session Focus:
Finishing Techniques: First-time finishes, finishing under pressure, and composure in the box
Wide Play: Attacking wide areas, driving to commit defenders, and delivering crosses
Movement and Timing: Late runs into the box, supporting the centre forward, and timing passes
Coaching Points (Per Player IDP):
Wide Attacker/Winger:
Driving with pace into wide areas to commit defenders
Executing crosses with precision, including chip back-post and cut-back deliveries
Attacking the box to meet crosses, focusing on timing and finishing with composure
Central Midfielder (CM):
Smart movement away from pressure to create space for effective passes
Timing of forward passes into the centre forward (CF) or attacking players
Supporting wide players with late box entries for second-phase finishes
Centre Forward (CF):
First-time finishing inside the box – focus on quick reactions and decision-making
Movement to support and link up play – setting up teammates and attacking the ball
Varying runs to provide different attacking angles (e.g. checking back, spinning in behind)
Session Structure:
Block 1 & 2 – Technical & Tactical Execution:
Ball 1:
CM plays a short pass to the centre forward (CF), who checks to receive and sets up the second CF to spin in behind for a finish on goal.
Ball 2:
Coach plays to Winger's feet, who drives at the mannequin defender to either cut back or deliver a chip cross to the back post.
Ball 3:
Coach plays to the CF (who didn't finish in Ball 1) for a first-time finish, varying service to create different scenarios.
Work both sides (left and right wing).
Block 3 & 4 – Complex Pattern with Attack & Support Play:
Ball 1:
CM bounces a pass to the CF, who plays it back to the CM. The CM then plays a second striker (CF) in behind for a finish on goal.
Ball 2:
Coach plays to Winger, who drives at the defender, commits them, and shoots at goal.
Ball 3:
The ST who did not finish Ball 1 pops to the edge of the box, receives a ball in the air, controls with two touches, sets up, and finishes on goal.
Interventions:
Concurrent: Player feedback during live action (ongoing support and corrections)
Terminal: Feedback between repetitions
Individual: Focused feedback on individual techniques, such as foot placement or timing
Walkthrough: Pre-block or reset explanations of movements and key focuses
