Tactical Linear Design Principles |
Organizational / Instructions
- Set up cones in multiple square formations.
- Put into groups of fours with each member standing behind a cone.
- Have groups practicing different passes i.e., bounce and shoulder.
Coaching Points
- When delivering a shoulder pass, step forward with opposite foot to throwing arm.
- Before releasing a shoulder pass, raise throwing arm to a 90-degree angle.
- After performing a shoulder pass, fingers should be pointed in direction of pass.
Progressions / Adaptations
Progression:
- Add a competitive element: first group to get 30 passes successfully wins > do this with each type of pass.
Adaptation:
- Decrease distance between players.

Technical Physical, Learning, Sensory Constraints |
Organizational / Instructions
- Keep the same square formations.
- Label the children with a number.
- When coach calls out number, said number must run clockwise to the next group.
- That number must try intercept the ball within 20 seconds.
Coaching Points
- Bend knees slightly.
- Push the ball down towards the receiver's feet.
- Follow through the pass with arms extended in direction of the ball.
Progressions / Adaptations
Progression:
- Coach calls out more than one number.
Adaptation:
- Keep it to one type of pass i.e., only shoulder passes.
