Techical practice (15 mins)

Organisation:

- Two teams with one ball each, one team moves clockwise while the other team move anti-clockwise

- The starting square must have two players from each team in the square

- Each team must pass the ball to their team mate in the next square and then follow their pass into that square

Coaching points:

- Pass to the back foot

- Movement to create a passing line to receive the ball in your box

- Open body shape to receive on back foot and take a touch out of your feet to set yourself up for the pass

- Weight of pass

- Quick combination-Can you play with one touch?

Progression

1. Change direction

2.Make it a competition, see what team can get the ball around the square 10 times the fastest

3. Combination as shown on diagram (progression)

4. Same competition using the combination

Rondo (15 mins)

Description:

- 4v4+3

- To score you must get the ball from one end N player to the other

- Defends on the inside and attackers on the outside, attackers can be tackled from outside, must never turn their back to protect ball.

- If defenders win the ball then they play to any of the N players and quickly transition to the outside. Vise versa for the attackers.

Coaching points:

Attacking

- Ready to attack, ready to defend positioning

- Body shape, receive in the direction you want to play the ball.

- Play into the back foot, let ball go acroos the body.

- Can you play forward? or can you set it for someone to play centrally?

- Move the ball to move the defenders

- Central N player plays inbetween and inbehind the first line of pressure

Defending

- Stay compact and protect the middle

- Pressure and cover

- Body shape to show the attacker where to pass

- Tackling triggers

- Communication 'PRESSURE' 'COVER' 'SLIDE'

Notes:

Can be 3v3 or 2v2, depending on numbers.

Conditioned game (20 mins)

Organisation:

- 4v4+3 directional

- To score you must pass into the end player who has two touches to play back in for a one time finish.

Coaching Points:

Attacking

- Quick transition to the outside to create space. Back peddle, always keep eye on the play.

- Is the space centrally or in wide areas?

- Pass to the back foot

- Message with the pass 'TURN' 'ONE'

- Scan

Defending

- Stay compact and protect the middle

- Pressure and cover

- Block off passing lines to foreward players

- Communication 'PRESSURE' 'COVER' 'SLIDE'

- Quick transition

Notes:

Numbers can be reduced to 3v3 or 2v2 in the centre.
