Analytical: Making space to receive the ball (20 mins)
Organization:
1. Team split into 4 groups of 3
2. One soccer ball
3. Activity takes place in center circle
4. Four cone gates placed no edge of circle
Instructions:
1. A 3v3 game is played, with 3 more players from each team lined up outside the circle.
2. Team with the ball must find a way to dribble through the gates.
3. When a player gets through the gate with the ball, he switches out for an outside player.
Coaching Points:
1. Pushing off the defender to create room
2. Opening up to the ball to allow for a turn
3. Overlapping to free up a player hemmed in
4. Exploding away from the defender to create a run
Progressions:
If scoring is proving too easy, add players from outside
