Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Scoring zone points game

Set Up: 20 x 30 yard area, with a goal at each & 2 teams including GK's (can use target goals without GK). Pitch divided into 3 equal channels (referred to as bronze, silver and gold zones). Each team’s attacking third is their gold zone, the defending third is the bronze zone and they share the middle third as the silver zone.

Format: Possession game to build up play & score in opponents goal, possession team can drop into defending zone unopposed to receive the ball from GK. If no GK then take ball from end line. Teams are only allowed to score from within their gold zone. If a player dribbles from the bronze to gold zone and scores they earn 3 points. If they dribble from the silver to gold they earn 2 points. Players can pass to each other inside the gold zone to setup a goal and that still counts with the amount of points from dribbling zone it started.
