Phase: eg. (Playing out of defense/role of the #6, attack zone-14, etc)

Counterattack with pace into the final third.

Organizations: eg. (Field dimensions- Number of Players- Cones- Bibs- ).

Play players in traditional roles.  This escalates the pictures they see and the reps they have.

(This is a Component 1 drill for UEFA 'A' Licence looking at Counter Attack in a 4-4-2 formation.)

There are 2 small rondos at the halfway line consisting of a 3v2. The feeder will play the ball into one of these areas. Once the attacking team plays 3 passes they can play into the strikers and attack the main goal. As they attack 2 attackers from the area and 1 from the opposite rondo can help the strikers. ! defender from the area and 1 recovering defender can join the play, giving 5 v 4.

Once a goal is scored or the play is broken down the play resets with the feeder.

Focus areas: eg. (Emphasis was on us pressing with high intensity from our shape, closing the lines between defense, midfield & attack & moving in relation to the ball).

Att- Transition with the speed.  Create overloads.

Def- Shape the play to make it predictable.  Recovering FB's angles. 

Key factors: eg. (movement & cues of opponents, angles of closing down).

Angles and passing lanes of the forward.

Half field. 9v9.  Players in like positions.

Focus areas: eg. (Emphasis was on us pressing with high intensity from our shape, closing the lines between defense, midfield & attack & moving in relation to the ball).

Middle third build-up play. Transition into the final third.

Key factors: eg. (movement & cues of opponents, angles of closing down).

Condition - 6 attackers must be in the opponents half before scoring. This forces the attacking team to commit numbers forward and achieve the transition as quickly as possible.

This is a Shadow Play drill for the UEFA 'A' Licence looking at Counter Attack in a 4-4-2 formation.
